The modification of the waste air composition of a bio-process or bio-reactor provides valuable information about the status of the metabolic rate processes of a cell culture.
Unlike conventional exhaust gas analysis systems, HiSense also provides, in addition to the factors of oxygen transfer rate (OTR) and carbon dioxide transfer rate (CTR), the biological factors of oxygen uptake rate (OUR), carbon dioxide emission rate (CER) and respiration coefficient (RQ). This is made possible by extremely precise, low-noise and drift-free sensors.
Low-noise, long-term stable sensors with low interference are used for oxygen analysis. NDIR photometers and flow sensors with a minimum of zero and increase errors are used for CO2 measurement.
Through a new form of special measuring method even the precise measurement of very low activity, both for small differences and for small measured gas flows, is possible. Unavoidable influences such as overall pressure and humidity of the gases are corrected. These may become very large at low metabolic rates and long cultivation periods, especially for cell cultures.
A coupling with other systems, for example for control and regulation purposes, is possible via a user PC.
