Gerhard Jobst is a chemist with two decades experience in chemical sensing, standard and innovative micro-fabrication. Starting his career in 1986 at the Institute of biomedical microtechnology and sensorics of TU Vienna he is the principal inventor of the technology for integrated enzymatic sensors and (bio-)microsystems for biomedical and biotechnology applications. His competence in polymer chemistry enabled the membrane- biosensor integration and their outstanding performance in whole blood and other demanding applications. From 1997-2003 he headed the group "Hybrid Technologies" at the Institute of Microsystem Technology (IMTEK) in Freiburg, Germany. In 2003 he founded Jobst Technologies GmbH and is CEO since then. In 2015 the company was acquired by the Innovative Sensor Technology IST- AG, Switzerland. Gerhard Jobst was and is key researcher of many national and trans-national research projects. Since 2002 he repeatedly evaluated research proposals and reviewed projects on behalf of the European Commission. He was co-program-chair of the symposium "Advances in Sensors for Diabetes Monitoring" at the 197th meeting of the Electrochemical Society in Toronto. He has (co)authored several patents, and is (co)-author of >50 publications.
