As a special display at LABVOLUTION, the smartLAB has been outlining groundbreaking as well as practice-oriented solutions for the intelligent laboratory of the future since 2015.

Led by cooperation partner Smartlab Solutions from Dresden – whose expertise lies in the planning and realization of comprehensive solutions in the field of lab digitization – a total of 14 exhibiting companies present thrilling solutions at the upcoming event dealing with the subjects of automation, optimization of workflows, robotics and artificial intelligence.

These are this year's smartLAB partners

In addition to Smartlab Solutions GmbH, the smartLAB partners in 2023 include Eppendorf AG, 2mag AG, Better Basics Laborbedarf GmbH, Düperthal Sicherheitstechnik, Essentim GmbH, Kreativraum GmbH, INTEGRIS LIMS GmbH, Labforward GmbH, Berner International GmbH, Institut für Umwelt & Energie, Technik & Analytik e. V. (IUTA), Fraunhofer IPA, Amensio GmbH, smartAct GmbH and INTEGRA Biosciences GmbH.

smartLAB presents four pioneering use cases

Holistically mapping, controlling and monitoring laboratory processes – with the LADSvolution use case, Better Basics, 2mag, Essentim, INTEGRIS, INTEGRA and Amensio present an intelligent solution for the automated and quality-assured consolidation of all the process information in one laboratory management system (LIMS).

Testing the activity and efficacy of chemicals is a frequent question in the laboratory. In the Smart Quality Inventory workflow developed by Eppendorf, Düperthal, Essentim, Labforward, Fraunhofer IPA and INTEGRA, visitors can observe in real time how a dye solution is tested for its thermochromic dye content.

Investigations of product quality, especially in pharmaceuticals, are standardized control processes, as fluctuating product qualities of pharmaceutical products can be detrimental to health. With the Smart Safety Cabinet Better Basics, Essentim, INTEGRIS, Labforward, Berner International and the IUTA give insights on how to support an analysis by automation and process control.

Especially in the field of cell culture technology, experimenters encounter an increased risk of contamination. In their workflow Smart Cell Handling And Imaging (Smart CHAI), Labforward, smartAct, Fraunhofer IPA and Better Basics demonstrate how the integration of innovative tools can partially or fully automate the process of cell culture handling – thus reduce user interaction and the risk of contamination.

Mixed Reality, Metaverse and Co – Gamechanger in the future lab

In addition to the four use cases, the smartLAB also presents an innovative mixed reality experience in the so-called Meta-Lab by Better Basics, Düperthal and Kreativraum. The virtual lab offers those interested an insight into modern laboratory environments and new ways of collaboration, communication and intuitive knowledge transfer.

Visitors of the trade fair are invited to try out the all use cases live on site in the smartLAB in hall 20 at booth C40. An informative supporting program rounds off the area of the future lab.
