Hannover. LABVOLUTION 2019 is definitely the place to catch up on the latest trends and innovations in laboratory equipment. But the show is also ideal for those who want to extend their own knowledge in workshops and seminars. On two days of the show, the Glass Laboratory Academy (GLA) from Berlin will now be staging its own program here for the first time. "We are delighted about our new partnership with the Glass Laboratory Academy," says Bernd Heinold, LABVOLUTION director at Deutsche Messe. "Participants can catch up on all the latest developments and get a first-hand insight into different sectors of the industry. Before and after, they'll be able to visit exhibitors' stands, so everybody benefits."

On the agenda for Wednesday, 22 May, is "Laboratory 4.0 for Technicians in the Life Sciences", which explores issues such as automated liquid handling, digital laboratory notebooks, and CRISPR/Cas for beginners. The target group includes technicians and lab assistants in the life sciences, who also receive GLA certificates on completion of the workshop. The session "Young Life Scientists – Business Orientation" on Thursday, 23 May, is aimed at PhD students and post-docs. This is all about giving sound advice on career choices for young research scientists thinking of going into the biotech or pharma industries. The subject of careers and further training will also be addressed at other events taking place at LABVOLUTION on the Thursday of the show, such as the BIOTECHNICA Forum.

The GLA speakers are all distinguished experts from the research establishments and businesses located on the Berlin-Buch Science Campus, from Berlin's universities, from the pharmaceutical industry, biotech companies, CROs, and from leading German research institutes.

For more than 15 years, the GLA has been offering in-service training with seminars, workshops, and practical laboratory courses for natural scientists and technicians working in the life sciences. The GLA is based on the Berlin-Buch Science Campus, in close proximity to about 45 innovative biotechnology and medical engineering firms, as well as high-profile research establishments such as the MaxDelbrück Center for Molecular Medicine in the Helmholtz Association (MDC) and the Leibniz Research Institute for Molecular Pharmacology (FMP).

LABVOLUTION

The next LABVOLUTION event takes place from 21 to 23 May 2019 in Hannover. LABVOLUTION is Europe's flagship fair for innovative lab equipment and laboratory workflow optimization. It showcases every facet of laboratory work, from the life sciences to analytical chemistry, and covers the full array of equipment and infrastructure for research, analysis, production and training laboratories, as needed by the chemical, pharmaceutical, life sciences, environmental protection, food and bioanalytics industries, as well as the R&D sector. A major focus of LABVOLUTION, which began as a spin-off from BIOTECHNICA, is the biotech and research sector, the subject of various presentations in the BIOTECHNICA Forum. LABVOLUTION serves as an international platform for the discussion of current topics of interest, such as Lab 4.0, laboratory workflows, and bioanalytics, and adds value for the visitor with formats for knowledge transfer, experience sharing and training. LABVOLUTION is being staged in Hall 19/20 (adjacent to the North 1 entrance).
