Gläsernes Labor Akademie

For the first time, the Glass Laboratory Academy (GLA) from Berlin is staging two full-day events at LABVOLUTION 2019 in Hannover, Germany: a Laboratory 4.0 workshop for technicians and lab assistants, and a conference day featuring talks on career opportunities for PhD students and post-docs in the life sciences.

New job prospects, further training opportunities and a tradeshow visit

LABVOLUTION 2019 is definitely the place to catch up on the latest trends and innovations in laboratory equipment. But the show is also ideal for those who want to extend their own knowledge in workshops and seminars.

On two days of the show, the Glass Laboratory Academy (GLA) from Berlin will now be staging its own program here for the first time.

  • Wednesday, 22 May 2019
    "Laboratory 4.0 for Technicians in the Life Sciences"
  • Thursday, 23 May 2019
    "Young Life Scientists – Business Orientation"

The GLA speakers are all distinguished experts from the research establishments and businesses located on the Berlin-Buch Science Campus, from Berlin's universities, from the pharmaceutical industry, biotech companies, CROs, and from leading German research institutes.

Both events are offered free of charge to trade fair visitors. Maximum number of participants approx. 50 persons. No advance registration is required.

Laboratory 4.0 for Technicians in the Life Sciences

On the agenda for Wednesday, 22 May, is "Laboratory 4.0 for Technicians in the Life Sciences", which explores issues such as automated liquid handling, digital laboratory notebooks, and CRISPR/Cas for beginners. The target group includes technicians and lab assistants in the life sciences, who also receive GLA certificates on completion of the workshop.

Young Life Scientists – Business Orientation

The session "Young Life Scientists – Business Orientation" on Thursday, 23 May, is aimed at PhD students and post-docs. This is all about giving sound advice on career choices for young research scientists thinking of going into the biotech or pharma industries.

The conference language is English. The subject of careers and further training will also be addressed at other events taking place at LABVOLUTION on the Thursday of the show, such as the BIOTECHNICA Forum.

For more than 15 years, the GLA has been offering in-service training with seminars, workshops, and practical laboratory courses for natural scientists and technicians working in the life sciences.

The GLA is based on the Berlin-Buch Science Campus, in close proximity to about 45 innovative biotechnology and medical engineering firms, as well as high-profile research establishments such as the Max­Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine in the Helmholtz Association (MDC) and the Leibniz Research Institute for Molecular Pharmacology (FMP).
