- Everyone talks about "digital transformation", many manufacturers use buzz words like Internet of Things (IoT), Smart Lab, Connected Lab, etc., but it is rarely remembered that this type of networking requires stable data and communication standards.
- IoT is not a standard and many laboratory (automation) manufacturers base their "digital strategy" on proprietary interfaces.
- The "digital transformation" is only possible through open, extensible and license-free standards such as SiLA 2 and AnIML.
- This presentation gives an overview of standardization organizations, the current status and reports on various organizations and standards (SiLA, AnIML (NIST), Pistoia Alliance, OPC Foundation, Allotrope Foundation, Open Connectivity Foundation, etc.).
