Product description

The well-known dispensing device Phoenix from Art Robbins Instruments - available through Dunn Labortechnik - is obtainable in two configurations. The classic Crystal Phoenix is mostly used in protein crystallography, but is also suitable for many other applications, such as for genomics. The system convinces through its 96-channel head with long lasting, flexible nitinol needles (optionally with 24- or 384-channel syringe head), which eliminates disposables, thus significantly cutting operating costs. The Crystal Phoenix offers nine plate positions for high-throughput applications. The system has a non-contact nano dispenser, dispensing volumes of 50 nl with a CV under 5 %, allowing set-up of sitting drops, hanging drops and microbatch reactions. The speed of dispensing the screen and protein eliminates the problem of evaporation, even when dispensing as little as 100 nl. Set-up of gradients and dispensing viscous solutions such as
30 % glycol or 20 % PEG4000 is also possible. The high-throughput dispenser is completed by an easy-to-use drag and drop software, an integrated wash system and a predefined plate library, where new plates can easily be added.
Recently, the Phoenix is available in a second configuration, with chemically resistant deck and 96-channel head with 1 ml syringes
(TCSS, TCSS widebore or flexible), which are compatible with all common chemicals for the chemical research laboratory. The Phoenix is the ideal dispensing system to work with organic solvents such as Methyl Isobutyl Ketone (MIBK) and Butyl Acetate and can dispense volumes down to 1 µl with a CV under 5 %. The compact size of the system allows to place it in a fume hood. Possible applications of the Phoenix are biofuel research, bacterial metabolic engineering, biocatalyst development and enzyme optimization.
