The Fraunhofer IPT is a strong partner in the development of innovative solutions for demanding manufacturing tasks. Our strengths lie in the highly precise processing and structuring of conventional and new materials with the latest cutting materials and laser systems. This includes the production of operating instruments used in minimally invasive interventions in MRI systems that are made from fiber reinforced plastics. Additionally, we develop both fiber - reinforced composite components and parts made of hybrid material composites for use in medical products. Using our expertise in process technologies, also the manufacturing of anatomically formed implants such as titanium bone plates or of customized ceramic dental inlays is possible. The functionality of such implants can be further enhanced by structuring the surface on a micro - and nanoscale. In our institute, we offer a variety of different technologies for the production of structured surfaces that can be used for this and other applications.
