Flow Robotics was founded in December 2015 by Kasper Støy and Andres Faina as a spin-out from Copenhagen IT University. "Usability is the essence of Flow Robotics," say the founders, who aim to become a leading brand by revolutionizing the day-to-day challenges of modern laboratories and contributing significantly to more health and improved lives, even behind the scenes. The Danes say of themselves that they are curious by nature and will not be satisfied until they can break down technological barriers that prevent automation technology from becoming accessible to everyone. Since its founding, the company has already won a number of awards, such as the Danish Industry Innovation Award and the title of "Startup of the Year", awarded by the Danish daily newspaper Børsen. Flow Robotics has also forged valuable partnerships with key players in the biotechnology and life sciences industries.

The Copenhagen-based company focuses on the development and production of automated pipetting robots for laboratories and research institutions, aiming to improve the accuracy, efficiency and reproducibility of laboratory processes while reducing the risk of injuries caused by manual pipetting. Flow Robotics launched its first product, the flowbot ONE robot, in 2018. A simple-to-use, compact pipetting robot that can handle a wide range of liquid volumes and operates in a fully automated manner. The robot can be adapted to different pipettes and sample platforms and operates intuitively via a graphical user interface, making it easy for users to program protocols. In addition, it is equipped with cameras, which allow the positioning of samples to be closely monitored in order to guarantee the precise execution of experiments. Besides, to its automated pipetting function, the Flowbot ONE can double as a shaker and temperature control device. Up to 96 samples can be processed simultaneously, making the robot particularly suitable for laboratories working with high sample volumes. Showcased at LABVOLUTION 2023 in Hannover, Germany, the model includes the intuitive user interface (which allows anyone to set up new protocols in the browser-based software) as well as computer vision technology for automatic detection and setup of the labware being used. An affordable and flexible solution with three pipette module options and three volume ranges, the Flowbot ONE will also be available in Hannover with UV light and HEPA filter.
